I bought kg 800 for my oldest daughter on ebay new unlocked. Never made first call yet? says network not avaiable. I live in the country but still get good service on all other phones? I live in NE Kentucky. Can anyone one help, I use cell one. Called them but they cant tell me what frequ. i use here? It is forsale for 100.00 if anyone wants it. My daughter is very unhappy I ruined her b-day.

i too have the error message
failure to authorise when i try and make a call.. its not the sim as have tried 4 working sims and all give same error msg!!

Great! I should have done more research before purchasing this phone through ebay. I also have ATT and I hope most the areas are not using 850MHz frequency. Arggh! Well... my brother-in-law have T-mobile.. maybe I can just sell it to him. I really like the phone!!!

HELP PLEZZZ!!! I recently bought the Choclate KG800 and it has just developed a fault. Everytime I try to make a call, I get the message "failure to authorize", and I do not get connected. I have put the sim card in another phone and it works fine, so the fault must be with the phone itself ... any ideas ? I would really appreciate any help on this subject.

Mine is completely white and i really really like it. The only thing is, no extension memory. 128 mb is fine but ... :). Not yet arrived in Mauritius but it works perfectly well with the local network.

@emily: you can transfer music from your PC with the Music Backup program provided by bell. Un fortunately, uploading music is the only thing you can do with this phone because Bell "played" a little with it. :(

If you are SURE that the frequency band in your area is compatible with the KG800, and that you actually do have signal where you are, then it is a waranty issue with the phone. If you had received a locked phone, it would display 'Invalid SIM' on startup, not the behavior you are saying. Your options are to continue trying to get on to your retailer, or to contact LG Europe directly for a waranty call.

Brad, Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have the KG800 model Chocolate (white) phone. I took the phone to my local AT&T store where they checked it out. They even game me a new SIM card. According to the service man at the store the phone should be working. The only thing I can figure out is it was manufactured for use in England. On the web site that I purchased the phone it indicated the phone was unlocked and after checking with AT&T the bandwidths are correct. So I am really at a loss at this point since I can not get any support from cellular-blowout where I purchased the phone. From readying the above comments I noticed others were having similar problems. I am not tech savy and have been searching the web relentlessly to see if I could find a place that could make any adjustments to get the phone to work! I love the feel and style of the phone and is the reason I bought it. I would hate to think I have thrown $243.00 down the drain! Oh - the phone came with the power adapter to change the charger for use in the USA . Thanks again. Dawn

Dawn - Do you have the KG800 model Chocolate? If so, it is likely that you are in an area where AT&T; uses the 850MHz frequency band (the radio frequency the phone uses to connect to the network), which the KG800 doesn't support. If you call AT&T; and tell them where you are, they should be able to tell you what frequency is used in your area. The KG800 supports 900/1800/1900MHz frequencies.

I bought the LG Chocolate online at cellular-blowout dot com. It is supposed to be unlocked. I noticed on the box that it has Eng. printed on it... I have service with Cingular now AT&T. AT&T says the phone should work. So far it does not even work half way! Most of the time I get an emergency only notice when I try to dial out. Some text messages and calls come through and/or can be placed. I would say maybe 1 out of ever 15 to 20 attempts... Every outgoing call placed generates the "Emergency" message...

I have called cellular-blowout.com several times. I have sent them several emails and can not get a response one from them. I paid a small fortune for this phone and it appears I am stuck with it. Any solutions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I can not afford to go purchase another cell phone. Thanks.

a couple of months ago i bought the LG chocolate phone from bell company and i cant put any music in my phone! everyone i know with a chocolate phone says just plug in your usb cable and just follow the steps its easy, well for me it wont work?..... i went on this website and said that bell company locked the phones with adding music so that you can download music from the phone ? but there has to be a way if anyone knows please let me know!

i understand the whole plugging in your usb cord and looking at the 5 folders with music, photos, others, etc and all, but how come when i drag and drop a song into the folder it says "cannot copy - the path is too deep." what does that mean by path is too deep? and how do i change it so that it works?

Brad Kellett was right I live in the US and have cingular. My chocolate will work everywhere in my area EXCEPT my actual home where I live unless I get up and walk around or walk to the end of my drive way! Either they just happened to have a 850MHz GSM frequency band tower closer to me than the higher mhz freq band towers or its the fact that I live right on the lake. But so far every where else in my area it works great including my internet, pix, and text messageing!

For those asking how to put pics, walls, and songs on your phone.
1> Plug in your USB cable (chocolate phn will now display USB connected)-don't disconnect without clicking on "safely remove hardware" icon down at bottom of screen by clock.
2> Open your window explorer and scroll down to the new drive created (mine is E:/ USB mass storage drive)
3> Click on the sign and you should see the four or five folders named: photos, videos, sounds, ect.....
4> Just drage and drop into corresponding folder. ( make sure the correct files go into matching folders or you'll phone won't be able to find them! If you do just reconnect USB cable and move them.)
5> Whe your done transfering files just click on "remove hardware icon" THATS IT!

IMPORTANT : DO NOT create new sub folders on that drive. Your phone will never locate those files!

@Jim and Pamela - When a phone shows emergency calls only, it means it has service from a network carrier, but it isn't yours. In this case, it would be T-Mobile, as it is the only other GSM carrier in the US. The KG800 lacks support for the 850MHz GSM frequency band, which is used quite a lot in the US, which may explain why you are losing signal with it but not other handsets. There is no way to add support for a frequency band to a handset that doesn't have it in the first place.

With my phone,(LG KG800) when it says "for emergency only" but shows 3 to 4 bars still, it means I am in an area that does not get service. I have cingular as well, I posted here in Jan. 18th about this issue). That is the major downfall with my phone in the NY area where I live, I get that "emergency only" message every day in about 5 to 6 different spots on my drive to and from work. if you figure out how to fix this, please post so I can use my phone on a differnt band or figure out how to use a stronger cignal. It sucks b/c my wife has cingular as well and has no dead spots in a ll the places I do, so it is defintely the phone.

To put music on the phone just go to ur background, connect your usb cable. then click the music folder drag and drop songs in their.

But to get on the internet u have to call you phone carrier company, they walk you through it and tell you what to type and stuff like that it only takes 5 minutes.

Of course i am the only person around who has ever seen one, and i am trying to figure out how to set up this phone for internet and mms with cingular. after inserting my cingular sim card, txt and phone calls works fine, but need help setting up internet and network functions.

It would have come in the box, if you have lost it, either ring LG in your area or head to a local phone shop, they should be able to order you one in.

Tu dois le unlocker ton cellulaire par quelqu'un qui vend des telephones importer . Car si tu ne le unlock pas , aucune compagnie sauf celle qui a fournie ton cellulaire le peux .
PAr example : La compagnie X en Grece qui vend ce cellulaire peux seulement activer ton cell .

Si tu unlock --->fido , rogers ,telus et bell pourront te le faire sans probleme .
Si ta deja un cellulaire avant ton Kg800
Enleve la battrie et enleve ton "sim card" et met le a ton Kg800 .

j'ai acheté un téléphone chocolate LG en Greece et je suis de retour au Canada au Québec et a ma grande surprise je ne trouve pas de compagnie de célulaire qui veule activé mon téléphone, j'aimerais avoir votre soutient pour l'activé au Canada, car j'ai payé quand même assez chère pour ce modèle et il ont vérifié comme quoi il était activable au Canada (3-band).

Hmm, that's strange because it's been available in Australia for around two weeks now!

Yep, it's GSM, but don't expect it in the US for a while yet. I haven't even heard any whisperings of a release yet.

Just simply looking at the phone screams GSM. That means it'll end up being a Cingular phone. But...I could be wrong.

So is tehre any news on which carrier is going to snag the KG800 here in the states? I know that I'm willing to cancel my contract for one!
