I absolutely love news tid bits like this.

The CEO of Cisco has mentioned that they would be interested in merging with a wireless infrastructure company, then Sunday Business (a UK business weekly) mention that it (Cisco) would most likely be looking at Nokia. Suddenly it is news that Cisco wants to merge with Nokia…

This is a Sunday Business inference people, not news. The news is that the CEO of Cisco wouldn’t mind merging with an infrastructure company. I doubt very much that Nokia would give a sniff to Cisco, however large they may be. Nokia has a good market share, and quite a few nice products coming out, if I were them I would be keeping to myself – a merger with Cisco probably wouldn’t yield much return, at least in the consumer space, which is where Nokia makes a fair chunk of their money.

I’m all for giving speculation, but point it out as such. I hate seeing quotes like:

Cisco Systems is considering buying Nokia

when that is not the case at all. Nice reporting.
